Basic information
Missie is a 10 year old female large breed with no know medical conditions. Owner has had Missie for 3 years and is surrendering her and her house mate Tyco because they are moving.
Socialization
Missie has lived with children ages 2,3 and 9 and is very relaxed and affectionate with them. Missie plays gently with both adults and children. Around strangers Missie is friendly and outgoing. Missie has not lived with cats and behavior is not known for interacting with them. Missie has lived with another dog and was respectful and playful with them. Missie does not have a bite history.
Behavior
During storms and fireworks Missie is calm. Missie isn’t bothered when having her food bowl touched or having toys and treats taken away. Missie doesn’t go on the furniture at home and isn’t bothered when being held or retrained. Missie went to the groomers to be bathed and have her nails trimmed. Missie enjoyed being brushed. When someone unfamiliar approaches the house Missie will greet them happily.
For the new family to know
Missie was described as friendly affectionate and playful with a high activity level. When home with Missie she likes to be in the same room as you or her house mate Tyco. Missie enjoys playing with rope toys and balls and knows how to play fetch. Missie eats Pedigree wet and dry food and also enjoys table scraps. Missie is house trained and goes for 3 walks a day. Missie is use to going to the bathroom on grass or cement . For exercise Missie goes to parks and runs in the fields and also goes on 2 mile walks each morning. Missie is curious when outside and will pull on the leash. When off the leash she will wander forward and only come back when called a couple of times. Missie is well behaved when left in the house and yard alone. Tyco knows the commands sit, stop and come eat. When it’s time for bed Missie sleeps with Tyco on the floor in the bed room. Something unique Missie does is sleep with her legs in the air or against the wall.
Behavior during intake
Missie was excited during intake. Missie came up to the counselor with a waging tail and enjoyed being pet. She allowed to be scanned and collared with a loose body wiggly body.
Group Behavior::
Missie’s previous owner reported that he lived with a male dog and was gentle with him.
06/12/17:
When off leash at the Care Center, Missie greets the male helper with a loose, wiggly body. She briefly sniffs him then mostly keeps to herself.
