I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/04/2016 from NY 10454, owner surrender reason stated was TOO MANY P.

06/05/16 11:08 S/O: BAR, sweet/friendly. No observed v/d/s/c. Good appetite. BCS 7/9. Mm pk/moist EENT: Severe dental disease – severe gum recession, tartar accumulution, gingivitis, halitosis. Lenticular opacity (fundic np). NND. Several wart-like lesions on top of head and dorsum. Dermal unadhered mass at top of head – approx 1.5×1.5 cm, moderately erythematous, soft/fluctuant, non-painful. Mild matting at ears, tail, perineum. OHE scar present. Several comedones throughout dorsum Grade III/VI left apical HM; NSR; PSS (difficult to assess in exam environment). Lungs CE. Abomen rounded, tense np, palpates WNL Prominent but not enlarged submandibular PLN, rest WNL Small (bb-sized, 4x4mm) MGT at right 5th MG. Grade III MPLs bilaterally – no crepitus/thickening A: Senior FS Maltese Heart murmur – unable to assess significance; r/o benign vs valvular dz vs other Bilateral MPL – clinical significance unknown Dermal mass – r/o benign vs malignant Small MGT – r/o benign (most likely) vs malignant Severe dental disease P: Reco transfer to rescue for placement/adoption. Senior patient with multiple chronic issues of unknown significance – may be entirely manageable. If placed – recommend dental, cbc/chem, grooming. 06/04/16 13:27 Basic information Mimmie was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner having too many pets. Owner has had Mimmie for the past ten years after receiving her as a gift. Mimmie was last seen by the vet two years ago, and says she does not have any injuries or health concerns. Socialization & Behavior Mimmie is said to be shy for a few moments, but becomes friendly with stranger. She lived with multiple Maltese, all bred in the home. Owner says she is affectionate and loving with the dogs. According to owner there haven’t been any issues of Mimmie biting anyone or another animal. Mimmie becomes nervous when hearing yelling. Owner says Mimmie is relaxed when food is touched while eating and she’ll just try to continue. She is unbothered if removed from furniture and owner says she shows no guarding behavior with her possessions. Mimmie is friendly if moved off of furniture, deals with baths but enjoys being brushed. Mimmie is unbothered if paws are touched, and calm if someone unfamiliar approaches home or owner. For a New Family to Know Mimmie is described as affectionate, playful, and excitable with a low activity level. She is normally following her owner when home. Mimmie is taken out three times a day and eats dry food. Mimmie is house-trained using both wee-wee pads and going outside. She is behaved when home alone, and were crate-trained years ago. Mimmie understands commands stay and come. When off leash outside Mimmie wanders but returns when called. Behavior during Intake Mimmie was friendly during intake. She stress panted when owner left but still came to counselor when called and allowed petting. Mimmie allowed counselor to pick her up for photo and allowed collaring. Once comfortable Mimmie stood on her legs against counselor’s leg to initiate petting. She remained calm with a dog on other side of the office. Mimmie allowed all handling and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

Mimmie came into our center as an owner surrender on 6/4/2016. Mimmie reportedly lived with several other maltese, affectionate and loving to the other dogs. It is reported Mimmie is shy when first meeting someone, but will warm up and become friendly. She reportedly becomes nervous if she hears yelling. Owner reports Mimmie isn’t bothered if anyone touches her Food, Toys, Treats. Owner states Mimmie is housetrained to go outside while on walks and also indoors on wee wee pads. She is described as affectionate and playful. Minnie was friendly during intake, allowed handling. Mimmie allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, eyes averted. She stood still during Sensitivity item, a bit tense, mouth closed. Mimmie followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, soft. She did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Mimmie did not approach the helper dog.The Behavior Team feels Mimmie would do well with an Average adopter. She may benefit initially from a slow approach/slow introduction so Mimmie can relax and warm up at her own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, lip lick, her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body a bit tense, mouth closed Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed Toy 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
