08/31/17 16:10 BASIC INFORMATION: Mimi is a tan small dog that is 9 years old. She was a gift from a family member. The owner has cared for Mimi for 5 years old. The owner is surrendering Mimi due to moving to a place that does not allow pets. Mimi has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION: Mimi has lived with one adult in the home. Around the owner she is affectionate and loves to cuddle. She has been introduced to a child age 5 and 7 years old. In the beginning she was fearful of the children and kept her distances. However after a few day of visiting the house she become playful and affectionate. She enjoyed being petted and lay down next to them. When strangers come over she keeps her distance but will approach and sniff. She has never lived with cats. But she had been introduced to a medium size dog that she loves to play chase and barks of excitement. BEHAVIOR: Mimi has never had a bite history. When she is introduced to children and strangers she is timid. But she slowly warms up and allows to be picked up. She shakes when she is being bathed, she tolerant when trimming her nails and brushing her coat. She allows her food bowl to be touched while eating and removing toys from her mouth. Mimi uses the bathroom in her wee pad, but when is to soil or dirty she has accidence outside the wee pad perimeters. She uses the bathroom outside when walked. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW: Mimi is described as shy, fearful but affectionate. She is timid with new people but warms up to people and then enjoys to cuddle. Mimi loves stuffed toys and sleep onto of her stuffed toys. She does not know any commands. Mimi enjoys a diet of Cesar dry dog food dry dog. She well behaved when left alone in the house. BEHAVIOR DURING ITNAKE: Mimi was a bit nervous during intake. Her tail was tuck and body low to the ground. She slowly approached and sniff. She allowed to be collard, scanned and photographed.

Is friendly after a few days. Behavior toward dogs: Playful Behavior toward cats: Unknown Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Mimi is described as shy, fearful but affectionate. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 9/2/17 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is tense and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is crouching trembles, with tail tucked. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. She allowed to be collard, scanned and photographed. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/1/17 During the initial examination Mimi was a little tense, timid, tolerates handling. ENERGY LEVEL: Her previous owner describes Mimi as a shy/fearful/affectionate dog. Mimi displayed low energy and movement throughout assessment. Mimi will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the (behaviors outlined below). _X_ No young children (under 5)- Due to the behavior seen in the care center, we feel that Mimi may be intimidated by young children. She needs a slow approach and time to warm up. She should never be forced to interact with new people, and should be allowed to greet and initiate an interaction at her own pace. Potential challenges: _X_ Fearful-Mimi has shown high levels of fear in the care center in each interaction, though she manages her stress well and has not escalated to warning signs. She needs a very slow approach and the ability to warm up to new people and new environments at her own pace. Mimi should be permitted to initiate interactions and solicit attention when she feels comfortable, rather than being forced to interact.
