07/01/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Better than a cup of coffee with which to start my day, is time spent with Miss Milly. It was love at first tail wag, her eyes sparkling at the prospect of making a new friend, going for a walk and the opportunity to go potty. Surrendered to our care as her family is moving, we’re told that Miss Millie spent time with kids (ages, 2,7,13) and is relaxed and respectful, playing gently with them. She’s spent time with large dogs, playing exuberantly, and plays rough with cats. There are no strangers in Milly’s life, she loves people and is outgoing when meeting new people. She doesn’t guard her stuff, sleeps in her dog bed, is “very housetrained” when walked regularly, is well behaved when left home alone, and knows ‘sit’, ‘come’, and ‘stay’. Sweet, wiggly and snuggly, Milly gives stand up hugs, sit down hugs, and in-your-lap hugs–he’s a delight!!! She’s a tiny little girl in light burnt orange coat, clean and cared for. She wiggles at everyone she sees, and I have no doubt was voted Miss Congeniality at her graduation! Her intake notes say “sweet and allowed all handling”, and yes indeed, that’s our Miss Milly! She’s perfection on four little legs ready to wiggle her way into your heart. Trust me, it won’t take long.

They may dislike certain ‘types’ of dogs or styles of dog play so they may require extra supervision when interacting with other dogs. PLAYGROUP: Milly engages in soft play with dogs in the care center. Milly has not been comfortable engaging in more rough, high energy play. The behavior department recommends slow introductions between Milly and calm, gentle dogs. INTAKE BEHAVIOR Upon intake, Milly had a loose body and jumped up socially. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/23/17 During her initial medical exam, Milly allowed handling. ENERGY LEVEL: Milly’s previous owner described her as having a medium level of activity. She is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) _X_No cats: Due to Milly’s previous owner reporting that she was rough with cats, we recommend a home without cats.
