Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Milkshake came into our center on 4/12/2016 after he bit his owner while intoxicated. He was easy to leash and place inside kennel, sweet and gentle during medical exam. Milkshake pulled on leash for his relief walk. He was calm yet alert upon entering SAFER assessment room, not soliciting human interaction. Milkshake was difficult to position for Look item, pulled out, would not turn his head towards assessor, shoulder rubbing, lip lick, tail tucked, unable to complete item. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, lip lick, a bit tense, mouth closed. Milkshake followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft. He pulled his paw back during first Squeeze attempt, body a bit tense. Milkshake did not pull his paw back on second attempt, body a bit tense. Milkshake took Toy away when approached by assess-a-hand, not tense or stiff. He rushed in towards the helper dog, tail above spine level, body a bit tense. The Behavior Team feels Milkshake would do best with an Experienced adopter that does Not have children. He may initially benefit from a calm, quiet, structured environment so he can relax and know what to expect in his new home. Look: 2. Dog does not turn towards assessor, shoulder rub, lip lick, tail tuck, unable to complete item. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1: 2. Dog pulls paw back, lip lick, a bit tense Squeeze 2: 2. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds, lip lick, a bit tense Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold.
