Basic Information
Miles is a 7 year old neutered Jack Russell Terrier who is being surrendered because owner is moving to Puerto Rico and cannot take him with her. Owner bought Miles from a pet shop 6 years ago. Miles has no medical issues and last saw a vet on 01/19/16 for vaccinations.
Socialization
Miles is friendly around strangers. He has spent time with kids ages 1 through 8. He is playful around the kids. He plays in an exuberant manner with kids and adults. He lived with a 6 year old female Pitt Bull and a 1 year old female Wire Terrier. They were playful and tolerant of each other. They played in an exuberant manner. He lived with an adult cat and was playful with the cat. He has never bitten a person or animal.
Behavior
Miles will whine and howl if left alone. He is not bothered by loud or sudden noises. Owner has never trimmed his nails. Miles is afraid of bath time. He will bark if someone knocks on the door. He loves being brushed. He is not bothered if his food is touched while he is eating, if a treat of any kind or toy is taken away. He is not bothered if pushed off furniture or if disturbed while sleeping.
For a New Family to Know
Miles is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, and nosy with a very high activity level. Owner stated he likes to eat cat food. He will follow his owner around when home. He likes to play with squeaky, bones, and rope style toys. He likes to play fetch and tug. He is kept mostly indoors and sleeps on a baby mattress in owner’s room. He is fed Alpo wet dog food mixed with cat food. Owner gives him half of a large can per day. He is potty trained and prefers grass. If left home alone Miles will whine and howl. He is well behaved if left alone in a yard. He has never been crated. He knows commands likes it’s and down. For exercise he plays in the yard. He pulls very hard on a leash and is never walked off the leash.
Behavior during intake
Miles ate treats from my hand. He attempted to bite when I passed the scanner over him. He had a wiggly body around female co-workers but would become still around male co-workers.
