Basic information
Mighty is a 15 year old female poodle who is being surrendered due to health problems and owner does not have any time to take care of her anymore. Owner had her for 15 years. Mighty cannot hold her urine anymore according to the owner.
Socialization
Mighty is friendly around strangers. She lived with kid’s ages 9 and 13. She was relaxed, playful, and tolerant of them. Owner stated they would carry her all of the time. Owner stated she does not play anymore. She has never lived or been around other dogs or cats. She has never bitten a person or animal.
Behavior
Owner stated for the last 2 to 3 months Mighty has been peeing indoors. During storms Mighty becomes terrified and hides. Owner has never touched her food while eating or tried to take a treat of any kind for her. If you attempt to take a toy she is playing with away she will growl. Owner has never trimmed her nails. Mighty is not bothered by being pushed off furniture, being held, disturbed while sleeping, bathed, or brushed. If someone unfamiliar approaches the door Mighty will bark.
For a New Family to Know
Mighty is affectionate, friendly, and mellow with a medium activity level. Owner stated Might know when someone is going to ring the bell even before the ring it. She will also wake you up if someone knocks on the door at night by scratching the door of the room the owner is sleeping in. At home Might will follow her owner around. She likes chew/bone toys and is kept indoors only. She is fed boiled chicken only, twice a day. Owner stated she has been going potty indoors for about three months now. She has never been left in a yard and never been crated. She does not know any commands. For exercise she goes for slow walks on a leash and she and never been walked off the leash.
Behavior during Intake
When I went to collar Mighty she attempted to bite me. After that, I took it a bit more slowly and was able to pick her up and place on the counter for her photo. When she was on the counter she tolerated touch on her back and top of her head.
