10/14/16 21:00 Midnight is an all black labador retriever mix. He seems to be one year old male unaltered. He was brought in as a stray roaming in the street without a leash or collar. The dog was brought into ACC due to a bite history… during intake the dog was nervous and did not allowed to be scanned, collared, or take proper intake photo.

KNOWN HISTORY: (Finder kept him for two weeks) Unaltered, Stray Bite history: Bit the finder in the leg leaving two punctures, no other information provided. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 10/25/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense with his mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1&2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 4. Dog approaches the helper dog with his body tense and lip raise. Summary: Hedwig displayed no concern during his behavior assessment. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/15/16 During Hedwig’s initial medical eam he was a little tense but tolerated handling. ENERGY LEVEL: Hedwig displays a medium activity level in the care center. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience _X_No children (under 13)(See known bite history) Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training is recommended.) _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Due to his bite history we cannot be certain if Hedwig has suppressed any behavior as a result of his environment, for this reason a home without children is highly advised.)
