05/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Midnight came to us as an owner surrender due to owner’s current living situation. According to the owner Midnight is reactive when around strangers and will growl and snarl when around them. She does not engage in any play with strangers. However, Midnight did live with two teenagers and was said to engage in gentle play with just them. The owner reported that if someone attempts to take her treats, toys or food away she will growl and snap. Midnight was growling, snarling, and attempted to bite as the handler attempted to remove her from her kennel. In addition she can be seen stiff body language and will growl when approached. Due to this behavior the handling items were not able to be conducted due to stress levels and safety concerns. Midnight displayed no interest in the toy on this portion of the assessment. When on an on-leash dog interaction Midnight approached the helper dog with relaxed body language. We recommend Midnight go to a New Hope partner that can provide the behavior modification necessary before placement into a home.
