12/02/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/02/16 10:23 Basic Information: Mickey is an 8 year old male Yorkshire Terrier Mix that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Mickey for 8 years but had to surrender due to animal’s separation anxiety. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers Mickey will bark at first but comfortable, he plays exuberantly and likes to jump a lot. Owner has a 6 year old child in the home & stated that he was always relaxed and respectful around the child but would sometimes get too excited and jump too hard on the child. Owner does not have any other cats or dogs in the home but did state that Mickey does not do well with others dog & will bark & try to lunge towards other dogs whenever owner would walk him on the street. Mickey has never bit another dog but has bit a person about 9 months ago. Behavior: If there are fireworks or thunderstorms outside, Mickey becomes terrified & has actually run away from home before due to his fear of loud noises. He is not bothered by having his food, treats or toys taken away, or being pushed off furniture. Mickey is afraid of being given a bath, having his coat brushed & having his nails trimmed & will try to run away. For a New Family to Know: Mickey is described as affectionate, playful, excitable, and fearful/anxious of loud noises and boxes with a medium activity level. Owner stated that whenever there was a box around, Mickey would bark & then run away to hide. In the home, he likes to follow the owner around and play with balls, squeaky toys & rope. Mickey was fed both wet & dry food brands Pedigree & Mighty Dog. Owner stated that Mickey is very picky towards wet food & will only eat Might Dog. As per owner, Mickey is mostly house trained but due to his separation anxiety, he would urinate all over the home whenever the owner would leave. He would also destroy household things whenever left alone in the home. When Mickey was left alone in the yard, he would whine to be let in but did well when someone was outside with him. Owner has tried to crate train Mickey but stated that he would urinate & defecate all over the crate. Mickey knows the commands sit, lay down, paw & dance. For exercise, owner would let Mickey out in the yard or take him on slow walks on the leash. Owner would have to go at times when other dogs were not around to prevent him lunging at other dogs. Owner was unable to walk Mickey off leash as he would run away.
