03/30/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/30/16 12:24 BASIC INFO Mickey is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix who was born at home. His owner had to surrender him because he moved in with people who wouldn’t allow pets. SOCIALIZATION Mickey is fearful of new people. He growls at them. He’s friendly with his family and their friends who visit regularly. He lived with 8, 11, and 14 year old children from when he was born until he was 1 year old. He was relaxed, playful, and tolerant with them. He plays exuberantly. He had play dates with another small male dog and was relaxed and playful with him. He growls at dogs outside. He’s never bit anyone. BEHAVIOR Mickey is nervous and hides during storms. He doesn’t mind when someone moves him off furniture, holds/restrains him, or wakes him up. He growls and snaps when his family attempts to take his food or bone. He growls and holds on to his toy if someone tries to take it. He is nervous and moves around a lot during baths. He growls at strangers who approach his family or enter his home; he backs up, approaches them, backs up, approaches them, etc. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mickey’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, cuddly, and high energy. He follows his family, sits in their laps, and likes tummy rubs. He played chase and tug and likes chew toys and rope toys. He lived inside and slept on a dog bed next to his owner’s bed. He ate dry Kibbles and Bits and wet Little Cesar’s food and got chicken as a treat. He sometimes potties on wee-wee pads but has accidents on the floor daily. He’s otherwise well-behaved while left alone inside or in the yard with a 7′ metal fence with a privacy screen. He went for slow and fast walks and pulled on his leash. His owner reports that his leash makes him uncomfortable, so he doesn’t go for frequent walks. He played in the yard for exercise. INTAKE Mickey is trying to bite and not tolerating handling at ACC.

03/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mickey was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling. Once he was removed from his kennel he is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. Mickey was stiff and did not show social behavior when the behavior staff tries to collar him he stands tall, wrinkles his muzzle to expose his front teeth and was charging the handler. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Mickey is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER. Mickey was surrender to us.
