**HAS COMPOUND FRACTURE**
Stray, 2 Years Old, Male, Brown Brindle/White Large Breed Mix 35 lbs.
Medical ::10/23/17 DVM Intake Exam; Estimated age: ~2-3 years; Microchip noted on Intake? negative; History : stray ; Subjective: BARH. No c/s/v/d. Appears to have LHL injury; Observed Behavior – very sweet. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures; Evidence of Trauma seen – yes; Objective P = wnl ; R = eupneic ; BCS 5/9; EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean and pinna cropped, no nasal discharge noted; Oral Exam: clean adult dentition, no oral lesions noted; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; U/G: MI, 2 testicles descended; MSI: Ambulatory x 3 with LHL lameness, left thigh is severely swollen, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, significant bruising on medial left thigh; CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Assessment: Closed compound fracture of left femur; Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC; Hydromorphone 0.1mg/kg IM BID x3d; Rimadyl 4.4mg/kg SQ SID x3d; Dexdomitor 10mcg/kg IV + butorphanol 0.2mg/kg IV for rads; 2 view LHL rads-closed compound fracture of left femur with significant soft tissue swelling, pelvis wnl; Keep in medical for daily monitoring; Prognosis: Good with surgical fixation-will likely need LHL amputation; SURGERY: temporary waiver from surgery due to injury
