09/14/16 10:10 BASIC INFO Michael A1089732 is a Lhasa Apso Mix. He is being surrendered to the shelter because he was found outside as a stray, Finder cannot keep. Finder placed in a carrier and brought to ACCNYC. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Michael was a little nervous, but allowed all handling and collaring.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray AGGRESSION ASSESSMENT: 09/18/2016 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, cautious and alert. His tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes averted, a bit tense, lip lick, mouth closed Tag: 2. Follows at end of leash, body soft, a bit distracted Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed Toy 1. Dog playfully engages, paw slaps, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: Michael was a bit uncomfortable during tactile portions of assessment, slight lip lick, slightly tense. Summary PLAYGROUP: 09/16/2016 When off leash with other dogs Michael is sexually motivated and will continue to attempt to mount once correction is offered. Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 09/14/16 During his initial medical examination, Michael was nervous; he walked easily on a leash but growled and attempted to bite during the exam. Muzzed for the remainder of the exam. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience _X_No young children (under 5) (Fearful; sudden movements, loud noises present to be a challenge at the moment.) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Michael has been observed to be fearful/nervous throughout his stay at our care centers though will display social behavior upon a slow approach. It is advised that any potential adopter allow Michael to interact at his own pace; force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing or exposing Michael to new and unfamiliar situations.)

Sex: Male intact Scan: Negative Estimated age: 3-6 years based on dentition Fleas: Small amount of flea dirt. S: Nervous, walked easily on a leash but growled and started biting during the exam. Muzzed for the remainder of the exam. O: BAR-H, BCS 3/9, MMs pink EENT: AS moderate brown discharge and erythema. AD clean. No discharge OU, nose. Moderate tartar and gingivitis. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Extremely tense M/S/I: Amb x4. 2-3 cm dia mass over dorsal spinous process in lumbosacral region – fixed in place, semifirm, overlying skin is alopecic with mottled pigmentation and many visible small veins. Matted and dirty fur coat, some flea dirt. UG: Male intact, testicles soft and symmetrical. Anus slightly protruding, soft, hyperpigmented A: 1. Underweight 2. Mass on lumbosacral spine – R/O mast cell tumor vs. melanoma vs. PNST vs. other 3. Dental disease 4. Otitis externa AS only Short-term prognosis: Fair P: 1. Administered pyrantel 2 ml and Activyl 14-22# during exam 2. Needs grooming 3. Clean left ear every 3 days, instill Otibiotic BID x10 days, recheck ears in 10 days 4. Recommend FNA or biopsy of mass and excision, as well as regular dental cleainng 1088
