A Little Bit About Me…
A Staff member writes : Miami was adopted and returned because of allergies. We thought she won lotto by being adopted but sadly, the child and his allergies were priority. The owner stated that Miami was good with the 2 yr old and not bothered by other dogs when she was walked. Let’s try to get her a home for the upcoming holidays!!
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

For a New Family to Know Miami is described as friendly, affectionate and playful. She had a high activity level and likes to play with stuffed animals. In the home, Miami liked to follow the owner around from room to room. She was kept mostly indoors and is house trained. When left alone in the home, Miami was was always well behaved. She knows the cues sit, come, stay, paw ad heel. For exercise, she was let out in the yard to play and the owner would take her jogging. When on leash, she tends to pull very hard at first and then relaxes after a few minutes. Owner was even able to walk her off leash and she stated that Miami would stay by her side.

Summary: Miami was a bit timid upon first entering SAFER area. She is hesitant to go up and down steps, moves slowly to get off bed in kennel. She tolerated all handling.
PLAY GROUP
When introduced on leash, Miami was initially a bit stiff at the gate. Miami is a bit aloof but tolerates greeting, became uncomfortable when greeter dog moved quickly, vocalized and jumped back. She was briefly introduced through the gate to a unfamiliar male later on, he rushed forward and barked- she matched his tension and barked back in response. There was no off leash interactions.
Date of initial: 18-Oct-2017
Summary: During her initial medical exam, Miami allowed all handling.
ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Miami so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the care center, Miami displayed a low to medium level of energy.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:
EXPERIENCE (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below)
Potential challenges: Fearful
Potential challenges comments: Miami is timid with new people. She manages her stress well and has not escalated, but she does need time to warm up to new people. She does best with a slow approach, and should be permitted to greet new people at her own pace and to initiate interaction (rather than being approached and pet immediately by a new person over her head) so she has time to adjust and become comfortable. She should be spoken to softly and gently
