09/14/16 15:06 BASIC INFO Mia A1089791 is an approximately 5 year old chihuahua longhair mix. She is being surrendered to the shelter because the owner is a senior and cannot properly care for her. Mia was a gift to the owner from friends. She appears to have a skin condition that she has not been seen by a veterinarian for. SOCIALIZATION Mia can be both friendly or fearful of strangers. Mia has never lived with a child. She does not play much at all. Mia has never lived with another animal. Mia has never bitten anyone. BEHAVIOR Mia allows you to take away her food bowl, water bowl, or toy away. She allows you to bathe her. If an unfamiliar approaches the owner or the doorway, she barks. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mia is best described as friendly and affectionate. she has a medium activity level. When home she follows you around. Mia has been kept mostly indoors. Mia is fed Beneful dry dog food. Mia is wee wee pad trained. When left alone, she is well behaved. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Mia allowed all handling and collaring.

Mia was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth, growling. Once she was safely removed with a towel from her kennel, Mia did not show any social behavior. She didn’t allow the behavior team to collar her, Mia stands tall and makes direct eye contact. She was growling, exposing her front teeth. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Mia was not interested in toys. She does not approach the other dog, attempts to exit. Mia was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Mia can be either friendly or fearful of strangers. Mia has never lived with a child. She does not play much at all. Mia has never lived with another animal. Mia allows you to take away her food bowl, water bowl, or toy away. The behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
