03/01/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/01/16 21:25 Basic information: MetaKnight is a 2 year old spayed lab mixed with pit bull. His previous owner had him for 1 month and got him from a friend who owned him prior. He was surrendered because his landlord doesn’t allow pets. He has no known injuries or health problems and the last time he went to the vet was 6/29/14. Socialization: Around strangers MetaKnight is friendly and outgoing and when he plays he is exuberant. He has been around a child who was 10 and with him he was relaxed and playful and when he played she was gentle. Around other dogs he is also relaxed and playful and when he played he was exuberant. Behavior: MetaKnight has never attempted to bite a person or animal. If his food bowl is touched while eating he looks up, continues to eat with relaxed body. He isn’t bothered if a treat is taken away from him. If toys are taken away from him he becomes playful. He isn’t bothered if he’s pushed off furniture, or if his nails are trimmed. He’s friendly if he is given a bath, having his coat brushed, or if she is held or restrained. If an unfamiliar person approached her previous home or owner he was friendly. He isn’t bothered if he is disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: MetaKnight is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable and independent. He has a medium activity level and the two things his previous owner liked the most about him were; he cuddles and is loving. When his previous owners were home he would tend to follow them around. He liked to play with chew toys. He was kept indoors only and ate both wet a dry Pedigree and Alpo. She is house trained and rarely had accidents. He used wee wee pads. When she alone in the home he was well behaved. He knows how to sit, come, stay, and go down on command. On leash she pulls lightly and when off leash wanders but comes when called. Behavior during intake: MetaKnight allowed me to pet him, collar him, take pictures and he sat on command. He showed no signs of aggression.
03/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes (as told by Metaknight): Hi everyone! I’m named after a character in the Kirby series although I’m not really sure what that is. I made a new friend today, her name is Volunteer. She called me her little brown sausage and I thought that was kinda cute. She laughed at me as I bounced around off leash — it sure felt good to be doing some zoomies, and Volunteer laughed and asked me if I had been a bunny in my previous life ’cause I was hopping a bit. She’s funny! We went for a walk so I got to go potty right away (I’m housetrained), and I wagged my tail the entire time we walked. I wag my tail at other dogs we pass as it’s nice to see my own kind. My person had to give me up because his landlord wouldn’t let me stay. He told everyone that I’m friendly and outgoing, was playful and relaxed around a 10 year old child, and like to play with other dogs. I don’t guard my stuff, and like to be brushed and have baths. I got to cuddle with Volunteer and hang out on her lap while she petted me, and that was really nice. I know how to sit, stay, come and go down when asked, and a treat is always appreciated. I sometimes play-growl as I run around but that’s just how I roll. I’m compact in a nice shiny coat and am looking for a new home and some space in which to do zoomies. I like making new friends and wish more than anything for a new family to live with. Please come meet me and take me home. You can even change my name!! 03/02/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Metaknight was initially nerous during her first off-leash introduction. Over times she has shown more interest in play, but still remains tense bodied at time, and may not be completely comfortable at this time. Previous owner cites that Metaknight was “relaxed and playful and when she played she was exuberant”. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction for Metaknight to ensure compatability with a resident dog. Metaknight would do best with slow, positive introductions for her to become completely comfortable around unfamiliar dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Metaknight briefly lip curls with greeting and is tense. She over time loosens up and becomes more tolerant of approach. She briefly sniffs the greeter dog. 3/9 update: Metaknight is a bit tense, but then becomes bouncy and vocal when soliciting. 3/9 update: Metaknight engages in vocal, running play. 3/10 update: Metaknight is vocal, engaging in running play with males and females. She remains tense throughout the interaction. 3/11 update: Metaknight continues to exhibit the above behavior when off leash with other dogs. 3/13 update: Metaknight engages in vocal play with another female. 3/14 update: Metaknight is vocal when soliciting from a playful male. 3/15 update: Metakinght becomes highly aroused and vocal during play. She becomes more aroused and fired up when running throughout the pens. 3/16 update: Metaknight continues to display this above behavior.
