11/15/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/15/16 14:11 Basic information: Mercy is a roughly 3 yr. old Am Pit Bull that mix. The Owner got her from a breeder as a gift; she has owned Mercy for over 3 yrs. The owner surrendered Mercy because the owner is sick and can no longer care for him. Mercy is is allergic to chicken and foods with it; he has never been taken to a vet. Socialization: Around strangers Mercy is friendly playful. Mercy has lived with a 6 month old child, he is relaxed and playful around children and adults he does not know (though he can play rough a times and may knock people down). Mercy has never lived with other animals so the owner has no idea how Mercy would behave around them. Mercy has never bitten anyone. Behavior: The owner stats that Mercy is not bothered when some moves his food or treats while he is eating, when someone takes his toys away or when someone disturbs him while sleeping. Mercy likes to be brushed and given bathes but has never had his nails trimmed. When an unfamiliar person or animal approaches a family member or his home he approaches them in a friendly manor. The owner does not know how Mercy is around loud noises such as storms or fireworks. For a new family to know: The owner describes Mercy as friendly and playful with a very high activity level. His favorite activity is to play fetch with his owner. In the home Mercy tends to follow the owner around the house and is kept mainly indoors. Mercy sleeps in the floor of the bedroom on a dog bed. Mercy was fed Pedigree dry dog food three times a day. He is house trained and has never had an accident in the home, when outside he goes to the bathroom on or around trees and grass. Mercy knows the commands “sit “and “Come”. For exercise Mercy is used to brisk walks on the leash and twice a day and does not pull on the leash. Behavior during intake: Mercy was relaxed with lose body, Mercy allowed to be scanned (+), collared, pictured and placed in a dog kennel.
11/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Mercy me, does this sweet boxer-pit mix have a face to remember! Mercy’s long legs, far-set eyes, and floppy little ears give him a unique (if not a little goofy) beauty that’s tough to forget. Mercy had lived with the same owner since puppyhood, but was brought to us when his owner got sick and was unable to care for him. Mercy seems to be housetrained and pulls a little on the leash, but is responsive to his walker. Mercy stays quiet in his cage, but perks up and wags his tail once he gets taken out for a walk. On our walk today, we sat down for a break and Mercy decided it was a good time to sniff my whole face and then take a few good licks of my ears. He’s definitely a bit of a quirky fellow, but his unique personality is nothing but charming. Come and see this pretty boy today at the Brooklyn ACC.

IN SHELTER BEHAVIOR: 11/21/16 Mercy’s kennel presence in the adoptions room has begun to deteriorate. He has begun to hard bark, stare and lunge while snapping at whoever is standing in front of his kennel. Today and ACO had a difficult time removing him from his kennel- every time she attempted to unlock his door, Mercy would lunge for her hand, bark and snap at it. At this time the Behavior Department does not feel that Mercy is a suitable candidate for adoptions and for the safety of staff and for his well-being, placement should be sought as soon as possible.
