Hello, my name is Melo. My animal id is #7772. I am a male brown dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 2 years 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.

HX: coughing today on rounds. Still appears to have good appetite and attitude. EENT: mild mucoid ocular discharge OU, but no obvious conjunctivitis noted. H/L: soft, moist/harsh cough while performing cage exam. Rest of PE is within normal limits. A: rule out URI P: move to iso, begin oral doxycycline @ 10 mg/kg PO SID x 10 days. Continue to monitor. #1431
Diarrhea noted on rounds board. Day 5 tx CIRDC History: CIRDC diagnosed on 10/4. Started on doxycycline. S: BAR. No c/s/v/d. O: EENT: No nasal or ocular d/c L: No c/s A: CIRDC-resolving One episode of diarrhea 10/9 P: Monitor for CIRDC tomorrow Continue doxycycline Recheck CIRDC in 10 days post dx Good prognosis
S/O: Monitor for diarrhea, one episode noted yesterday. BAR. Very active in cage, attention seeking, eating well, pile of slightly soft stool noted (dog already stepped in feces, does not appear to be diarrhea) EENT: Eyes clear, mild nasal discharge HL: Very mild cough/sneeze A: CIRDC, resolving well; no diarrhea noted P: Continue with current treatment and monitoring plan. Excellent prognosis

Date of intake: 1-Oct-2017 Spay/Neuter status: No Means of surrender (length of time in previous home): Owner surrender (since 8 weeks old) Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward strangers: Friendly, outgoing Behavior toward children: Relaxed, playful Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Behavior toward cats: None reported Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, affectionate and playful with a high activity level. Date of assessment: 1-Oct-2017 Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft. Paw squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw. Paw squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Melo was friendly, affectionate and social towards the assessor. Summary: When off leash at the Care Center, Melo rushes the novel female dogs, and immediately mounts them. He continues to engage in sexually motivated behavior- ignoring the other dog’s correction. He briefly explores the pens when interrupted by handlers. According to Melo’s previous owner, He has spent time around a small dog and was relaxed and playful. When playing with other dogs he is also exuberant and somewhat rough. The Behavior Department recommends that Melo be placed in a home with resident dogs that are tolerant of his sexually motivated behavior. Summary (1): 9/29: Melo rushes into the pen, and immediately mounts the novel female dog. He is difficult to interrupt, but briefly listens after several attempts. He offers a few play bows before re-attempting to mount her. Summary (2): 9/30: Melo rushes and leaps over a novel female dog, when the pen door is open. He repeatedly mounts her-only briefly exploring his surroundings, before approaching the greeter again. After ignoring the other dog’s correction he is separated. Date of intake: 1-Oct-2017 Summary: Friendly and allowed all handling Date of initial: 1-Oct-2017 Summary: Excitable, playful and allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: His previous owner reports a high activity level, which matches what we have seen in the care center. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: AVERAGE (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
