A volunteer writes: If ever a dog was made to be loved, it’s Melissa. To say that I’m head over heels in love with her would be a major understatement. Quiet, gentle, calm, affectionate, her tail never stops wagging, and even some difficulty walking (perhaps a bit arthritic?) doesn’t stop this sweet girl from….well…anything. She seems to be housetrained, and when it was clear she wanted to join me on the bench I helped her up so we could cuddle together. Melissa has likely been a mom a few times, she has what we call “happy tail” which is a sore spot at the end of her tail from wagging/banging it on something, and the purring she makes when I pet her should be on ITunes as it’s so soothing. Her paws were a bit red so when I asked the vet to take a look she immediately flopped over for a belly rub as he examined her, and yes, purred some more. When it was time to go back in her kennel, Melissa stepped in and went immediately onto her bed. She’s such a good girl. Melissa is a big baby, a gentle and loving soul who deserves to live a happily ever after as a cherished companion…..lots of love, lots of belly rubs, lots of good food, lots of attention….and when her big soft eyes look up at you, and her tail wags, you’ll know that adopting her was the best decision you’ve ever made.
