 A volunteer writes:
A gentle giant.. Yes, it defines quite well Melbourne(Mel in short), a five year old Cane Corso  treating us with his majestic presence here at the care center. He is a gorgeous knight, all dressed in silver.  Mel is peaceful in his kennel and looks up at me with his pale greenish eyes. He gets up slowly, comes to his door against which he smudges his face. He accepts a treat as well as me as a caretaker… What a great guy he is! A visitor exclaims…You have such cool dogs down here…We surely do ! Mel is a good walker despite a limp. He walks at my pace but accelerates if needed and climbs well a short flight of  stairs. He clearly appreciates his stroll around the park . His eyes light up and his tiny ears perk up at the sight of a squirrel….Dogs, big and small are met. Mel is cool with them and wags his little stump of a tail..  We settle in the sun. Mel sits with some difficulties. His hips are a bit on the weak side and his hinds waver .He poses his head in my lap. He loves caresses and I love the way he looks at me…Mel is really a very sweet dog and would be such a great catch for an owner who wants a gorgeous, large, well mannered and calm dog . He does need TLC, proper nutrition, joints supplements and lots of love to tie successfully his care. Melbourne  is at the Manhattan Care Center. You do not need to take  a long flight  to visit him.. Just bring yourself and a car, get to meet him, fall in love and take him home…
Another volunteer writes:  Melbourne was my snuggle meister of the day.  I’m in love.   Quiet in his kennel, coming forward to be leashed, it’s clear from the moment he’s out of this kennel he has a problem with his back legs.  He’s game for a walk though, perfect on leash, goes potty once we’re outside, and when we stop for some photos all he wants to do is bury his head in my chest.  He snuggles, he wags his little stump of a tail, and he snorts and snores with the pleasure of our cuddle.   He’s an awesome dog, the true definition of a gentle giant, just waiting to be YOUR gentle giant.   Melbourne needs vet attention for his back legs, and the only other attention he needs his love.   That sure will be easy.

Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process.

* We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*
