12/11/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: One can not miss the Boxer in Melanie. Her generous jowls, her underbite, her slanted torso and thin waist and of course…the white boots. Although well dressed, Melanie is quite thin. She is not very fond of my treats and searches my goodies bag, mainly to retrieve my ciabatta bread. She is such a great beggar, dancing on her hinds or sitting tight with an anxious face. Food might have been scarce before she came to the care center. She is a great walker and a perfect “sitter”, wags her tail a lot and is very welcoming of people and dogs alike. She seems to like to be with her peers in playgroups although at times, she appears to be a little overwhelmed. Toward the end of our time together, Melanie became more and more mellow, hopped on the bench next to me and literally hugged me with her body. Lots of kisses followed. I did not expect this deluge of warm feelings and it is with regrets that I put back in her kennel this sweet and loving gal with a stern face. I am looking forward to see Melanie again but I am mostly hoping for her to spend the holidays in a home sweet home. Come and meet her soon at the Manhattan Care Center and make her your forever best friend.
