Melanie is a wise old soul and a living lesson in the beauty and endurance of the elderdog spirit. Life can be hard at times; rain falls, winds blow and tumors grow, but with age comes a deep appreciation for everyday comforts gleaned from the kindness of friends and strangers. No one enjoys a walk like Mel, no one loves chewing on a rawhide better than she or sleeps more soundly on a cushy bed. You won’t meet a gentler or easier to handle dog of any age and in spite of arthritis she accepts a ‘lift’ up and down the stairs or back into her den without a whimper. Other pups of all sizes and sexes stop by for a visit and she meets them with the same calm tolerance she shows to us humans, everyone is welcome at her door. This Thanksgiving Mel’s ready to give thanks just for being well fed and treated with the dignity and respect she deserves but we hope you’ll give her something much more precious than these basic necessities. A loving forever home would be her dream come true, will you be the one to make it a reality?
