06/25/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Megatron is mega FUN! He is cute as can be, very friendly, and such a good boy! His favorite thing in the whole world is toys and he is a fetching, jumping super star! Although he prefers playing to cuddling, don’t worry if you aren’t made of stuffing and squeakers — Megatron will love you just the same. He’s very waggy and appreciates attention. He is easy to handle on leash after he’s run around a bit, seems housebroken, and has done well with female dogs in our playgroups. Come meet him at Brooklyn ACC, take him home, and become his new favorite thing in the whole world!
06/16/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: None 6/14/17 Unaltered Male, Stray Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 6/14/17 Look:2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag:1. Follows at end of leash, body soft but distracted. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1.Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: Megatron was friendly but very distracted by the smell in the assessment room. PLAYGROUP: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Megatron is social with female dogs and displays slight assertive posturing with male dogs. Megatron was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Megatron be placed with female dogs that match his calm sociability. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 6/14/17: Upon intake Megatron was friendly and allowed all handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/16/17: During his medical examination, Megatron was cautious due to his vision on his left eye. He allowed all handling. IN SHELTER BEHAVIOR: 06/18/17 Megatron has not been acclimating well to the Care Center environment and is displaying stress-related behaviors when his kennel is approached- freezing, growling and barking. The Behavior Team has worked with him by creating a positive association for Megatron when his kennel is approached; unfortunately he is not improving, and is unable to manage his level of stress and discomfort any longer. He is maintaining his sociability towards both humans and other dogs outside of his kennel. We recommend that placement be sought as soon as possible since this behavior precludes him from moving into our Adoptions room. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Megatron so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) _x_ Recommned no dog parks – Due to Megatron’s mounting behavior with male dogs, and the propensity for the behavior to not be received well, the Behavior Department recommends that he only be socialized in a more controlled setting.
06/17/2017 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR

He displays slightly bouncy body language when she solicits play, but mostly keeps to himself as he explores. 6/18: Megatron greeted a male dog today with a slightly stiff posture and raised hackles. After exploring the yard, Megatron approached the other dog again and attempted to mount but responded immediately to interruptions. 6/20: Megatron displays soft body language when greeting a female dog and mostly keeps to himself as he explores. 6/21-24: Megatron is sexually motivated and persistently attempts to mount the female.
