08/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/21/16 16:35 Megatron was surrendered because his owner no longer has time for him. He was reported to be friendly around strangers. He has lived with children 0-9 years old (it was unclear how many children of what specific ages). He loves when children pet him, but he can be a bit rough with them- jumping on them, for example. he plays similarly rough with adults. he has never lived with other animals. when he is home alone, he will go through the garbage. previous owner states that megatron will allow for his food, treats, and toys to be taken away from him. he allows his owner to restrain him. he enjoys baths and being brushed. he will approach unfamiliar people in a friendly manner. Megatron’s previous owner described him as friendly, affectionate, playful, and excitable. he has a medium to high activity level. he likes to follow his owner around the home. he usually sleeps by himself and is used to eating dry and wet food. he goes on walks on the leash, and pulls very hard. At the ACC, Megatron approached counselor and allowed for petting. He enjoyed several treats in the office and presented with loose body, mouth open, wagging tail. his tail stopped wagging when his previous owner left, but rest of body remained the same. he pulled very very hard on leash- counselor had trouble not being dragged by him. he also figured out how to turn the doorknob in the counselor’s office- very smart boy!

08/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Megatron pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with his handler during assessment – jumped up. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Megatron was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He became stiff and uncomfortable during paw handling the behavior team decided to use the flank squeeze instead. Megatron didn’t respond to the squeeze flank. During toy test he showed some concerning behavior- stiffening and growling, but did not escalate to a snap or bite to the assess-a-hand. Megatron was surrender to us. According to his previous owner he is friendly around strangers. He has lived with children 0-9 years old (it was unclear how many children of what specific ages). He loves when children pet him, but he can be a bit rough with them- jumping on them, for example. He plays similarly rough with adults. he has never lived with other animals. The owner states that Megatron will allow for his food, treats, and toys to be taken away from him. Megatron was difficult to put back in his kennel after his walk. He put on brakes, majorly resist and would growl when trying to place back on kennel. Megatron shows some guarding issues during the toy test. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy: 4. Dog freezes and growls.
