Megan -13 year spayed female – 7.9lbs – GREEN Medical Behavior!

DVM Intake Exam; Estimated age: 13yrs (reported); Microchip noted on Intake? Y; History: owner passed away- surrendered by family; Subjective: BAR; Observed Behavior – attention seeking, compliant, wags tail constantly; Objective ; T = DNP; P = WNL; R = WNL; BCS; EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted; Oral Exam: Oligodontia, grade 2-3/4 tartar present on remaining teeth, halitosis; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, lungs clear, eupneic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; U/G: Spayed female- spay scar visible on midline; MSI: Ambulatory x 4, Grade 3 MPLS bilat, skin free of parasites, 1cm soft SQ mass L lat thorax at level of 13th rib, healthy hair coat; CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Rectal: DNP; Assessment: dental dz, grade 3 MPLs bilat, SQ mass L lat thorax- ddx benign vs. malignant; Prognosis: good; Plan: Ok for placement/adoption; rec anesthetic dental procedure, consider FNA of mass +/- bx; SURGERY:  Permanent waiver due to already spayed.

A staff member writes:  Megan was brought to MACC because her owner passed away and the family member could no longer take care of Megan. As per her caretaker, she is an affectionate little girl that gets along with other small dog

Basic Information:  Megan is a 13 year old, female, small breed dog. Owner cared for her after original owner passed away 11 months ago. Client is surrendering due to not having time to care for her. She has some skin issues and has not been to the vet while with previous owner.

Previously lived with:  1 adult
How is this dog around strangers?  Megan is friendly and outgoing with strangers. She plays gently with adults
How is this dog around children?  Megan has never spent time around children. Behavior is unknown.
How is this dog around other dogs?  Megan lived with a 9 year old, small breed dog and they were respectful of each other. They did not play together.
How is this dog around cats?  Megan has never spent time with cats. Behavior is unknown.
Resource guarding:  Megan does not resource guard food, treats, or toys.
Bite history:  Megan has never bitten another person or animal.
Housetrained:  Yes
Energy level/descriptors:  low

Other Notes:  Megan barks when left home alone. She isn’t bothered during fireworks or thunderstorms. Megan is friendly when being pushed off furniture, held or restrained, disturbed while sleeping, brushed, and having paws touched. She has never had her nails trimmed and she isn’t bothered when getting bathed or if someone unfamiliar approached the home or owner.

Medical Notes:  Megan has some skin issues.

For a New Family to Know:
Megan is described as affectionate, friendly mellow dog with a low activity level.She will follow your around when you are home and likes to play with balls. She will play alone. She sleeps anywhere and eats pedigree dry food. She is house trained and uses wee wee pads. When left alone she will bark. She has never been crate trained and doesn’t know any commands. She will get slow walks on leash and doesn’t pull.
