Flank squeeze 1: 4. Dog growls Toy 1: No interest. Summary: Meatball remained focused on exit throughout assessment, whining and stress panting. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: When off leash with female dogs Meatball greets and explores, but eventually focuses on mounting. He will continue to do so even when correction is offered. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 1/5/16 During his initial medical exam Meatball appeared nervous and growled when ears and masses were palpated. RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13): Due to Meatball’s bite history and lack of experience with children, we recommend an adult-only home. _X_Place with a New Hope partner: Meatball has given appropriate warnings of discomfort when handled in certain ways (growling), but these warnings in combination with his bite history cause us to feel that it is in Meatball’s best interest to be placed with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. We recommend only force-free, reward-based training methods for Meatball as more aversive techniques are likely to increase fear and aggression. Potential challenges: _X_House soiling: Meatball is reported to urinate and defecate in the home, and will therefore need guidance to learn to eliminate outside. We recommend frequent, consistent walks, a consistent feeding schedule, careful supervision when he is inside, and rewards and praise for eliminating in desired locations. Meatball should never be punished for an accident as this will set the house training back.
