04/27/16 10:17hrs Mayo has been cared for by his family for the past 2 years. He has lived with children aged 5 and up. Mayo becomes excited when he sees the children by wagging his tail and attempting to jump up on them, however he isn’t allowed to interact with them. Mayo also lived with a Yorkshire terrier in the home that he was tolerant of. They were only allowed minimal time together. When Mayo notices other dogs outside of the home, he will pull towards him. BEHAVIOR When Mayo is eating in the home, he is left alone. He will snap and attempt to bite if his bowl is touched. He doesn’t respond if his favorite toy is taken from him. He listens when told to get off of furniture. Mayo enjoys being petted and will attempt to sit in his owner’s lap. Mayo is bathed at least 1x a month and enjoys playing in the tub. Mayo is restricted to one area of the home and will bark and scratch at the door when he is alone. When someone knocks at the door, Mayo will bark and growl. He is always locked away when strangers enter the home. If he is approached by a stranger while being walked, he will sometimes attempt to approach the person and sniff them. His owner stated that often he will grow stiff if a stranger attempts to approach him and the person walking him. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mayo enjoys chewing on hard ropes. He knows the commands “sit or put it down.” Mayo is always muzzled when he is outside of the home. He is walked 2x a day but isn’t housebroken. Mayo eats Alpo dry and wet dog food mixed. He will sleep in his own room at night. DURING INTAKE Mayo appeared stressed. He would walk with his tail tucked under and trembled when he walked. He resisted walking on the leash and would pull in the opposite direction. When he was touched, his body would tremble and he would become stiff.
