10/05/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/05/16 14:25 Maya is an 11 month old female APBT mix. Her family gave her away when they moved out 2 days ago. A neighbor took her in but doesn’t have enough space to keep her. Her primary caretaker here was a 14 year old boy. He also lived with adults. Maya’s caretaker reports that she’s shy at first with new people but becomes friendly, affectionate, and playful quickly. She pottied inside and outside and chewed sandals in the home. Maya walked beside her caretaker without pulling. She looked at dogs as she passed by without stopping or pulling towards them. Maya stayed close to her caretaker. Her tail was tucked and body low. She walked towards me and sniffed towards me from ~1 foot away. She remained tense and crouched as her caretaker scanned her (-) and collared her and while we took her pictures.
10/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: This seriously adorable little girl, wearing the latest style in doggie haute couture (one ear up, one ear down), is a Brindlicious peanut ready to come out for a walk. Showing off her housetraining skills as soon as we were outside we then head for the park for some photos and cuddle time. She’s shy at first as we were advised by her former short term owner. Maya was given to neighbors when her family moved away, but as they don’t have room for her surrendered her to our care. Her primary caretaker was a 14 yo boy. We’re told she likes to chew sandals (so put your shoes away when you adopt her), is shy with new people (yep) but becomes friendly, affectionate and playful quickly. Maya has a nice energy, enjoyed watching the squirrels (and actually play bowed to one of them – so funny), didn’t like either of my treats, joined me on the park bench for a quick hug, and while she didn’t solicit affection at first, eventually allowed me to pet and cuddle her. And yes – I actually saw her smile!!! Maya is still a baby at 11 months old, so needs a new home where love, structure, guidance and more love will help her become the rock star adult dog she’s destined to be. Who’s going to be the lucky person or family to help her complete her journey?
