I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 05/13/2016 from NY 11004, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

05/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Maxie walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Maxie had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He took the toy away but had soft body language. Maxie did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.

When off leash with other dogs, Maxie roams and keeps to himself. 5/18 update: Maxie avoids dogs and seeks handler attention. 5/19 update: Maxie greets and sniffs politely, and remains interested.
