I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/09/2016 from NY 11234, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA.

08/09/16 13:16 Basic Info: Max A1084775 is an 8 yr. old male Labrador who is being surrendered because of landlord issues. Max has never had any health issues or injuries while with the previous owners. Max is allergic to chicken. When max eats chicken he starts to lose hair on its back. Socialization: Around strangers max is fearful. Max will growl and bare his teeth if a stranger approaches him to fast. He Max has never been around any cats, dogs or children. The previous owner stated max is very protective of him and doesn’t think he would do well in that home setting. Behavior: Max has never bitten anyone or animal. Max is usually calm inside the home however, he is an active barker. Client stated that he likes to bark at any little sound he hears. Max isn’t bothered by the following having his food bowl touched/or taken away, having items taken out his mouth, or being pushed off furniture. Max was walked three times a day by the owner’s son. Max loves bath time and being brushed For A New Family to Know: Max is friendly, affectionate, playful, excitable & independent with a medium activity level. The owner likes how friendly & playful he is. He enjoys playing with a sneakers, rope toys and games of fetch & tug. He is mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on in his dog. He eats dry dog food 2x a day and likes any kind of dog treats. He knows how to “sit”, “stay” & “come”. Intake Behavior: Max allowed all handling by the owner. Max did growl at an admissions counselor.

Max previously lived with adults. The owner stated around strangers max is fearful; he will growl and bare his teeth if a stranger approaches him to fast. The owner mentioned Max has never been around any cats, dogs or children. The owner describes Max as friendly, affectionate, playful, excitable and independent. It was reported by the owner Max has a medium activity level and he’s usually calm inside the home however, he is an active barker. At intake it was reported Max growled at the counselor and all handling was conducted by the owner. During SAFER Max came into the assessment room tense and anxious, he was not interested with the assessor. Max would avoid interaction with towards the assessor; he displayed whale eyes and a stiff body when attempting to touch him. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Max there were some concern for safety. He displayed no interest in the resource item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a New hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time.The behavior department recommends placement into an experienced foster home who can provide an appropriate period of decompression and acclimation time to help Max thrive and succeed. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash at the Care Center, Max is nervous as he greets the other dog displaying a tense face. He is sensitive to the novel noises in the environment. He is tolerant of the female dog’s play solicitations but does not engage in play. He spins his rear end away from the greeter dog when she attempts to sniff him.

According to Max’s previous owner, Max has never been around other dogs. 8/10: When off leash at the Care Center, Max is nervous as he greets the other dog displaying a tense face. He is sensitive to the novel noises in the environment. He is tolerant of the female dog’s play solicitations but does not engage in play. He spins his rear end away from the greeter dog when she attempts to sniff him. 8/12: Max is sexually motivated, attempting to mount the other dog. He briefly listens to the handler’s interruptions before focusing on the greeter’s genitalia.
