02/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Max came to us as an owner surrender on 2/10/16. According to the owner Max has lived with children and was said to be relaxed and playful towards everyone in the house, and he loves children and is playful but his size makes him somewhat rough. When around dogs he isn’t familiar with the owner stated that Max will either bark or growl at them. Max did come to us with a previous bite history of biting the neighbors’ contractor that trespassed onto the property through the yard. Initially, Max was barking at the man, but out of fear the man started to kick Max away when Max bit the man. As a result, the contractor was taken to the hospital and required 27stitches. Upon intake Max had very loose body language with the owner, but growled at the admissions counselor when they attempted to scan him for a microchip. The rest of the handling was completed by the owner. During his medical exam he became very leash reactive and was hard to control, and growled at the medical staff member. Staff members have been unable to remove him from his kennel as he is very leash reactive and once the leash entered his kennel he immediately began to bite it. When approaching his kennel Max can be seen lunging, growling and trying to bite from inside of the kennel. Due to all known behavior information Max will not receive a behavior assessment at this time and should be placed with a rescue that can provide behavior modification before placement into a home.
