04/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
On 3/27/2015 Max came to us as owner surrendered. According to the owner Max Lived with adults and children, gets along with children and strangers, and no bite history. The Assistant’s observations: friendly, strong pulled on leash walking to the assessment area. During the assessment Max appeared strong and friendly, jumping up to lick the Assessor’s face. He allowed the Assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items and accepted handling very well. When pushed away by the assess-a-hand Max lifted his head from the bowl. He showed minimal interest for toys and a rawhide. During the dog-dog, Max showed reactive behavior towards the helper dog. This may be a result of the body language displayed by the helper dog (stiffened body, ears erect). No other behavior issues noted. It is the opinion of the Behavior Department Max may be adopted by an experienced owner who fully understands max may need to be introduced to other dogs slowly. Max may benefit from a behavior modification program with an emphasis on dog-dog socialization. Helper: A1031743 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral
