A Little Bit About Me…
A volunteer writes: There’s something so serene and sweet about a senior, a proud member of the ‘frosted face’ club….a distinction speaking to experience, love, memories cherished, people and things loved. Maison joined us with his brother Xavier (15752) when their owners became too ill to care for them, but it’s clear the brothers were loved well. Maison lived with 3 children, his brother, and 2 cats, all of whom he was gentle and relaxed with. We’re told he’s housetrained (check), doesn’t guard his things, is allergic to grain and dust, is crate trained, and slept with his brother at night. His former owner told us her favorite thing about him is his temperament and how calm and loving he is. I loved spending time with this sweet boy. He showed me his sit, his fabulous leash manners and how gently he takes a treat after sometimes doing a little hop just like his brother! Maison ignored other dogs we passed, even a small one yapping and pulling towards him, and in his first playgroup as of this writing, kept quietly to himself. Maison is at that perfect age where easy walks, a soft bed, good food and lots of love is what it will take to keep him happy. He’s an absolute sweetheart, doing so well in this strange new place after 10 years with his family. I picture him curled up beside you binge watching Netflix or channel surfing for a good movie. How do you picture him?

For a New Family to KnowMason is described as friendly, affectionate, mellow and confident. his previous owner liked his temperament and how calm and loving he is. When he previous owner was home, he would follow her around. He likes to play with balls and his favorite game is fetch. He was kept mostly indoors. At night he slept in a dog crate with the other dog he lived with. He ate dry Kirkland grain free dog food. He is house trained and rarely had accidents indoors. The only times he had accidents were because he was not walked. When left alone in doors, Mason is in a crate and is well behaved. He is also well behaved when left left alone in the yard. He does well in his crate for 5 to 8 hours. He knows the cues sit, come, stay, drop it and out. For exercise he would play in the yard for 2 to 3 hours a day. On leash he does not pull and on leash he wanders but comes when called.
Behavior Notes:
Mason backed away when approached and attempted to hide behind his owner. After talking to him in a low tone he allowed me to pet him and he smelled my face. He walked with his back hunched and showed whale eye but allowed all handling. He went into his kennel right away.
