08/05/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: What a stunning girl Martvi is ! Her bright copper eyes light up her dark chocolate coat. She is a mix between two beautiful breeds, a Cane Corso and a Boxer, which rounded her lovely face, curled up her nose and downsized her beautiful body. Mart is a shy gal. She is at her door when I arrive and accepts easily my leash. She likes to be caressed and to sit calmly by my side. She is quite obedient, poses for pictures and sits on command even if I have no treat to reward her with. She walks nicely on the leash and eliminates as we go. Other dogs are met in a proper way. In playgroups with her peers, Mart has been timid but non-aggressive. I really like Mart. She is gorgeous and owns a very gentle face. She welcomes human presence and seeks affection. She has very soft manners. Beauty, shyness and gentleness define Mart. Come and meet her in person at the Manhattan Care Center. Take her home as your forever best friend.
08/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Martvi came to the care center as a stray, so we have no information on her in a home. During intake, it was reported that Martvi tolerated all handling. On her relief walk, she pulled lightly on leash. Martvi was calm upon entering SAFER assessment room, approaching assessor, but became easily startled at any sudden noise. She averted her eyes during Look and was focused on other stimuli, sniffing assessor’s pants. She leaned in during Sensitivity, with a soft body and open mouth. During Tag, she was a bit distracted and unresponsive to each pass. She gently pulled back her paw on both Squeeze attempts. She showed minimal interest in Toy, small bursts of enthusiasm but quickly losing interest. The Behavior Team recommends an Experienced home with no young children. She may benefit initially from a calm, quiet, structured environment, where she can warm up at her own pace. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, she is focused on other stimuli. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog has small bursts of enthusiasm but quickly loses interest.
08/03/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
8/3: When off leash with other dogs, Martvi is tense when sniffed, however does walk away. Martvi arrived as a stray into our care, so her history involving other dogs is unknown. The behavior department feels that at this time, Martvi may be most comfortable as the onyl resident dog in a new home until her behavior around them can be followed up on outside the care center.
