09/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Marley previously lived with adults and has spent time with children. The owner stated Marley is friendly, playful and relaxed around strangers, adults and children of all ages. The owner mentioned Marley lived with small dogs and was relaxed, affectionate and playful towards them. The owner describes Marley as friendly, affectionate, playful and shy. It was reported by the owner Marley is house trained, crate trained and does well for up to 8 hours, has a high activity level and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Marley was calm and allowed all handling. During SAFER Marley came into the assessment room nervous, tense and uncomfortable with his tail tucked, he was not interested with the assessor and kept his distance. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Marley had stiff body posture when approaching him. He displayed no interest in the toy resource item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: While off leash at the Care Center Marley was initially nervous displaying a low body and tucked tail. He tolerated the greetings from the other dog, but did not engage in play. Marley mostly kept to himself after the initial greeting.
