07/14/16 19:23 BASIC INFO Mango A1081292 is a 1 year old American Pitbull terrier Mix. He was found running loose as a stray in Brooklyn. Finder cannot keep. Finder placed Mango into their vehicle and brought him to ACCNYC. Finder stated that Mango was well behaved in the vehicle and got along well with a child in the vehicle. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Mango allowed all handling, collaring and photos. He had loose wiggly body and would try to pull on the leash to greet another dog.

Mango came into the shelter as a stray on 7/14/16, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: It was reported Mango to have loose wiggly body posture; he allowed all handling. During SAFER Mango came into the assessment room playful and friendly, he had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, and he allowed all handling item to be conducted without issue. Mango was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Mango was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Mango appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Mango was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Mango engages in gentle play with female dogs. He may become sexually motivated, but can continue to play. He is slightly uncomfortable around another male and displays conflicting body language. He attempts to engage in play with a play bow but begins to growl. The Behavior Department recommends that Mango be placed in a home with a dog that matches his play style and a thorough dog-dog introduced should be done with a potential adopter’s dog, especially a male dog. 7/16: Mango greets the other dog displaying loose and wiggly body language. He is sexually motivated, but is able to engage in gentle play when solicited. 7/21: Mango greets another male dog displaying soft body language. He is nervous but tolerant of high energy play. He is slightly uncomfortable around the other male and displays conflicting body language. He attempts to engage in play with a play bow but begins to growl.
