I am a male black and white chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 12 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/03/2016 from NY 10451, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

04/05/2016 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 3 NC – MAJOR CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 9.0 LBS.
Hx: Pt noted to be sitting in a corner during outdoor time, salivating and not interacting with the world. S: Quiet, tolerates most handling although pt resists oral exam and heavy restraint. O: BAR-H, MMs pink EENT: Mature cataract OS, immature cataract OD. No discharge OU, nose. Mild black discharge AU. Severe tartar and gingival recession, excessive salivation. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Slightly tense M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. UG: Male intact, testicles soft and symmetrical. Blood glucose: 106 A: Hypersalivation – R/O oral pain and infection vs. effects of buprenorphine vs. other (undiagnosed) illness Short-term prognosis: Fair P: Continue pain medication and feeding soft food. 04/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mando is extremely fearful to remove from his kennel he will snap at the leash but he allow the handler to safety remove him with a towel. Mando is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. Mando doesn’t like to be handling around his head and neck area he will air snap at the handler. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Mando is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time.

When off leash with other dogs, Mando appears nervous and keeps to himself.
