01/11/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
Maks A1062702 is a 2yr old neutered male AMPBT mix who was given to the owner as a puppy and is being surendered due to his behavior changes for the past 6months (according to the owner no changes have occured within the family or home, they don’t understand the cause). Maks was last seen at a veterinarian in January 2015. Around strangers Maks is friendly/outgoing (especially if you give him treats). He’s lived with children ages 2, 7, 9 & 18yrs old. Maks is relaxed, playful, respectful, gentle, exuberant & somewhat rough during play (he doesn’t know his size/strength) with them also the cat in the home and adults. Maks hasn’t been around other dogs. He hasn’t bitten/scratched an animal. Maks bit a family member on the wrist in the summer of 2015 who he hadn’t seen in a while when they walked into the apartment and lifted their hand/arm to close the apartment door, the bite did not bleed it just left one tooth mark on the wrist. He hasn’t shown any signs of aggression or dominance over any family member or the cat before this incident or since. During storms Maks will lay down & listen to it and during fireworks he’ll bark. Sometimes Maks will destroy his dog bed. Maks isn’t bothered by the following: touching/moving his food/food bowl, toys, treats, being disturbed while sleeping/resting or with being moved off of furniture (he thinks it’s playtime). Maks enjoys bath time (he drinks the water from the faucet), he enjoys being brushed and having his teeth brushed. During nail trims he barks, growls, whines & tries to get away. When someone comes to the home he’ll bark for them to give him attention. Maks is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable & anxious (whining & barking-no apparent reason) with a high activity level. The owner likes how he rolls over to look cute to get his way and how he listens. Maks loves to run & play tug with his rope. When the owner is home Maks follows them around. He enjoys rope, squeaky, stuffed & kong toys (with peanut butter). Maks is mostly an indoor dog who’s walked 4-5x a day where he doesn’t pull on the leash. He eats dry Blue Buffalo dog food, (can’t eat chicken) he’s given mostly turkey & lamb and jasmine rice as a treat. Maks is housebroken, well behaved when left alone, commands are “put it down”, “go eat”. Maks barked but once treats were given he was more receptive to handling. He allowed to be scanned (+),collared & taken pictures of.

01/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Maks was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling and lunging. Once he was removed from his kennel he walks calmly on leash. Maks doesn’t want to be pet by the assessor he became uncomfortable giving a low growl; he stands tall, and tries to look large and wrinkles his muzzle. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment. During the resources Maks was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Toy 1: No interest. Playgroup Notes: Maks offers polite greeting. He postures to mount but does not fully attempt. He walks away from play solicitation.
01/12/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Maks greets politley and may posture to mount but does not. He can be overwhelmed with an exuberant dog but with calmer dogs he is tolerant and will allow them to solicit without engaging. His owner reports he has not been around other dogs so his in-home behaviors are unknown. Based on these observations the behavior department recommends Maks have a pre-adoption interaction before going to a home with other dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Maks offers polite greeting. He shows brief interest in play but becomes a bit overwhelmed with the other dog’s more exuberant play style. 1/13, 1/14: Maks offers polite greeting. He postures to mount but does not fully attempt. He walks away from play solicitaion.
