Bcs 4/9 mild dental tartar/gingivitis, eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge, ears wnl normal thoracic auscultation; normal abdominal palpation integ wnl; ambulatory x 4 intact male no concerns on initial exam. continue to monitor while at bacc. excellent prognosis

PROFILE
Major Tom was in the lobby with his finder. He was whining and pulling towards the exit. When approach he maintained his soft body. He turned his head and allowed the counselor to pet his head. He maintains a soft body and walk well on a leash. He allowed all handling. He whined throughout the intake and showed no concerning behavior.
BEHAVIOR
Major Tom came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Major Tom was friendly with soft body posture, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Major Tom came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly, social and affectionate towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Major Tom was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Major Tom was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Major Tom appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.
Toy 1: No interest.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Major Tom greets politely at the gate but is somewhat disinterested. He is mostly sexually motivated but will engage in bouncy play.
