08/03/17 14:41 Basic Information Major is a brown and white, large male dog. His owner surrendered him due to health reasons. Owner stated that Major was born at her home and has been with her since then. She further stated that Major is a well-mannered dog and have been a great companion to her and her family. Major’s last vet care was in April 2016, and he currently has no visible signs of injuries or illness. Socialization Major is very friendly and outgoing around strangers. He did not live at home or spend time with children and is gently and bit exuberant when playing with adults. He lived and spent time with his mom and was relaxed, playful and respectful or her. When playing with other dogs, Major is gentle. And, he has never bitten a human or another animal. Behavior Major has a very good behavior. He barks a little during fireworks; is friendly if you touch his food or bowl while eating (he licks your hands and continues eating). He is friendly if you take his toy away and is not bothered pushed off furniture or disturbs while sleeping. He run in the bathroom and into the tub whenever owner prepares to give him a bath and isn’t bothered if brushed or nails trimmed. He is friendly if unfamiliar faces approach owner or her family or her home. For a new Family to Know Major is a very friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and independent dog with a very high energy level. He has been a great companion and emotional support to owner and loves to play in the outdoors. He stays in his favorite spot at home and likes to play balls, fetch and chase and loves to wrestle with owner. He was kept mostly indoors and slept on a large mat and sometimes on her bed. He was fed both wet and dry dog food (pedigree) but prefers dry food. He has no favorite treat; is house trained and rarely has accidents (according to owner, his last observed accident was one year ago). He goes potty on grass, gravel/dirt when outdoors and is well behaved when left alone at home. He has never been crated and understands the commands ‘sit, come, down, stay.’ He goes on slow walks on and off leash; pulls lightly on the leash and stays close to your side when off leash. Behavior during Intake Major had a very relaxed body with an open mouth and a wagging tail. He allowed petting, licked counselors’ hands and took treats. He allowed all handling and went in the kennel on cue.

A volunteer writes: The perfect dog with whom to end my day; good on leash, super housetrained per his former owner and my observation, perfect GQ looks, fun, playful and affectionate. Surrendered by the only family he’s ever lived with due to his owner’s health, we’re told that “Major is a well mannered dog and has been a great companion to her and her family”. Major is friendly and outgoing with strangers, gentle when playing with other dogs, doesn’t guard his things, barks during fireworks, jumps into the tub when his bath is being prepared, loves to play outside, is housetrained, and well behaved when left home alone. Major is a dream companion in my opinion, giving me a quick woof if I wasn’t fast enough with a treat, catching them on the fly when I tossed them as he’s a bit grabby, joined me on the bench for some kisses, loved retrieving a toy I tossed in the pool, and playing/drinking with water from the hose. He’s been gorgeously taken care of, his coat soft and clean, his weight perfect for his size. Major enjoyed time with a female in his first play date, greeting politely and engaging in running play. A superstar, a fabulous playful and affectionate friend, he’s waiting to find a new family or person to love. Let’s not keep him waiting.
