11/16/16 Sneezing noted on rounds. O: BARH. Active, eating well. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. EENT: Sneezing, mod. mucoid nasal discharge. H/L: Lungs clear, no coughing, no dyspnea. A: CIRDC. P: Move to iso. Rx Doxycycline 100 mg 3.5 Po q 24 hours x 10 days. Gave first dose in small amount of dog food. Excellent prognosis.

10/31/16 17:42 Basic Information: Major is an 11 month old American Pit Bull Terrier who was surrendered due to his previous owner not having the time to care for him. Socialization: Around strangers Major is friendly, outgoing and plays exuberantly with adults. Major has never been around children or cats so it is unknown how he will react to being around them. Major has spent time with various dogs who he was relaxed and playful around. Behavior: Major has never bitten another person or animal. Major is not bothered by loud sounds such as thunderstorms or fireworks. Major is friendly when people touch his food or bowl while he is eating, takes a treat/toy away, holds/ restrains him, disturbs him while he is resting/sleeping or gives him a bath. Major’s previous owner has never pushed/pulled him off of the furniture so it is unknown how he will react to that event. Major will try and run away if someone tries to trim his nails or brush him. If an unfamiliar person approaches Major’s family or home he will be friendly toward them. For a New Family to Know: Major is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, and mellow with a very high activity level. When at home Major will follow around his owner and likes to play with squeaky toys and balls. Major was kept indoors only and was fed dry food once a day. Major is mostly house trained and rarely has any accidents. Major uses wee wee pads and was crate trained for up to 10 hours. Major knows the commands sit, down and stay. Major likes brisk walks on a leash and will often pull hard on a leash. Major has never been walked off leash. Intake Behavior: Major had a loose body and a wagging tail during intake. Major would lie on his back and enjoyed having his tummy rubbed by staff. Major allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/1/16 Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1:1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Major displays exaggerated loose and wiggly body language in a group of playful male and female dogs. He engages in his low body play style. The Behavior Department recommends that Major be placed in a home with playful dogs that are comfortable with his unique play style. 11/2: Major displays loose and wiggly body when greetings a novel female dog. Once in the pen, Major engages in high energy, spazzy play. When playing he lowers his body and crawls under the other dog. He only briefly engages in chase play and continually solicits. 11/3-11/16: Major displays exaggerated loose and wiggly body language in a group of playful male and female dogs. He engages in his low body play style. He is tolerant of a male who is continually mounting him.
