KNOWN HISTORY: None 7/2/17 Unaltered female, stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 7/5/17 Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: Maggie was friendly and playful during her assessment. No concerns were seen during the handling assessment. PLAYGROUP: When off leash at the Care Center, Maggie is social with male and female dogs and occasionally solicits gentle play. Maggie was brought in as a stray so her behavior around other dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Maggie be placed with resident dogs that match her calm sociability. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 7/2/17 Maggie allowed all handling during intake. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/3/17 During her initial medical examination, Maggie was friendly and allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Maggie so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. Maggie displayed medium-high energy and movement throughout assessment. When off leash at the Care Center, Maggie is social with male and female dogs and occasionally solicits gentle play. Maggie was brought in as a stray so her behavior around other dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Maggie be placed with resident dogs that match her calm sociability. 7/3: Maggie greets a novel male with a slightly tense but wiggly posture. She remain social with him throughout the session, presenting her rear-end several times but does not solicit any play. 7/5: Maggie solicits and engages in very gentle play with a playful female dog. 7/6: Maggie is nervous in a group of playful dogs and does not engage in play. .
