Basic Information: Maggie was brought in as a stray so her history is unknown at this time. She appears to be a 7-8 year old, small mixed breed female.
Behavior Notes:
Maggie was very friendly and affectionate during intake. She jumped up on counselors lap and was nuzzling into her shoulder. She enjoyed being held and was wagging her tail.

Look:2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag:1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.
Paw squeeze 1:1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:1. No interest.
Summary:Maggie displayed a soft body posture, soft eyes, and relaxed ears. She was calm throughout the assessment; playful during tag, but showed no interest in the toy item.
Summary (1):Maggie was surrender as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown.
5/15-16: When off leash at the Care Centers, Maggie greets a group of small male and female dogs with a soft posture. She is social and explores the yard.

ENERGY LEVEL:Maggie displayed a low-medium energy. Playful during tag, and gentle. Soft body and allows handling. She will need daily physical and mental stimulation to keep her engaged and exercised.
