A volunteer writes:

Little Mackie, 14 years young, owned by the same family for 12 years….is with us at the Manhattan Care Center as a relative became allergic to his dander.. Mackie lived peacefully with many children, a small breed dog and was known to be sociable and friendly. He is said to be house trained, very quiet and would eat only home cooked meals. One can imagine how tough it must be for a little guy like Mackie to be in a shelter environment.  He has been in playgroups with his peers, though, not really playing but mingling like little dogs do…He is very calm in his den and welcomes caresses and sweet talks. He was clearly happy to get bits of rotisserie chicken. May be it reminded him of his home sweet home… Little Mackie needs out…to a quite home and with an owner who loves and understands the elderly. Mackie has still  what it takes to make a master happy… Come and meet Mackie in our adoption quarters .
