PROFILE:

Basic: Mack is a 10 year old American pit-bull mix. His owners got him off the street when he was a puppy. His owner is surrendering him because she cannot keep him due to housing issues. Mack’s skin is very irritated and he has not had veterinary care in a while.

Socialization:

Around strangers Mack is friendly and gentle. He is very mellow. He has spent time around children in the neighborhood and was usually tolerant of them. He doesn’t play with adults or children anymore, he usually just relaxes at home and enjoys being petted. He has spent time with another dog in the home for a while, a miniature pinscher. They were the best of friends and were respectful and tolerant of one another. Mack plays gently with their dogs. Mack has spent time with cats most of his life. He was very respectful of the cats and gentle with them. He also spent time with birds and did not pay them any attention. He has never bitten a person or another animal.

Behavior: Mack is well behaved at home. He sleeps a lot. He isn’t bothered during fireworks/thunderstorms. Mack isn’t bothered when someone takes away his food while eating/takes a bone or rawhide away/take away a toy/get pushed of furniture/restrained/disturbed while sleeping/gets a bath/gets brushed/gets a nail trim/unfamiliar person approaches his house or family member.

For New Family:

Mack is friendly, affectionate, mellow. He is a low activity level. His owner loves that he is so mellow, loves to be loves, and sleeps like a cat curled up in bed! Mack likes to go on short, slow walks. He also loves relaxing. When at home he will follow his owner around, or hang out in the same room. He doesn’t have any favorite toys or games. He sleeps on his own bed, or his owner’s bed. He eats both wet and dry food getting 1 can and 3 scoops of dry 2xday. He loves soft chewie treats that smell strongly of meat. He is house trained, and never has accidents at home. He goes potty on the grass/cement. He is well behaved when left alone at home and in the yard. He was kept outdoors in a yard for a long time, with the freedom to go in and out of the house. He knows “Sit”, “Come”, and responds to his name. He will let you know when he is done walking and will stand still. He pulls very lightly on leash, and stays close by your side when off leash.
