06/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Macho come into the shelter as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown .Upon intake it was reported Macho had a loose body and allowed all handling. During SAFER Macho came into the assessment room playful and friendly, he was social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Macho was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment,Macho was easy to handle when engaged with the item. During dog-dog interaction Macho began to bark and lip curl so he was muzzled. When he approached the gate, the greeter dog began to bark at him therefore he was not allowed into the pen, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “experienced” adopter, and we recommend thorough Dog-Dog interaction before being placed into a permenant home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, mouths leash in a playful manner. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-Dog: Macho began to bark and lip curl so he was muzzled. When he approached the gate, the greeter dog began to bark at him therefore he was no allowed into the pen today. Another attempt will be made with a more tolerant greeter dog.
