01/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Macho walks calmly on leash. He was not sociable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Macho was tense during handling, with fearful body language. He stands his ground at the end of the tag interaction showing teeth with a stiff body language. For safety reason the behavior team decided to skip the squeeze item. Macho was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 4. Dog stands his ground while not cornered and barks at the Assessor with ears forward, body stiff, Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Macho offers polite greeting then roams the pen.
