MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
09/25/2016 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is EXPERIENCE, Weight 52.4 LBS.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience _X_No young children (under 5) (See potential challenges) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (During his stay in shelter, Lyon has been observed to present with fearful behavior/appropriate warning signals indicating stress. Because Lyon has not acclimated well to the kennel environment, it is recommended he be placed with with someone with experienced who can safely handle and manage Lyon during a period of decompression. Lyon displays social behavior away from the shelter environment upon a slow approach; we advise using only force-free, reward based training when introducing or exposing Lyon to new and unfamiliar situations.) Lyon displays fearful kennel presence in shelter; cowering towards the back, trembling, growling. Loud noises and sudden movement present a challenge at the moment as Lyon has shown to react by becoming tense or attempting to flee. Due to his fear and stress level, Lyon is unlikely to thrive in the shelter environment and should move into a home environment as quickly as possible.
09/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/21/16 12:13 **Previous owner only had Lyon for a few days so they were unable to provide much information** Lyon was reported to be friendly around strangers. He lived with two young children under the age of seven while he was with his previous owner. Client reported that he allowed the kids to jump on him and pull his ears and would respond gently and playfully. Lyon did not live with other animals during this time. Client reported that Lyon was house trained. They did not know how he reacted if food or toys were taken away, or during baths. Lyon was described as friendly and playful. He had been eating dry food for the past several days. During intake, Lyon had his tail between his legs and stared at counselor with short lip. He would not follow counselor on leash. He tried to back as far away from counselor as possible to hide. Before owners had left, he had been hiding behind them. Stiff body, tail between legs, ears back, short lip. After awhile of being in counselor’s office, he would stand closer to counselor without backing away. Counselor was unable to collar- he would back away with ears back and short lip when counselor would get that close.
09/25/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: “Loveable Lyon.” That’s what I immediately coined him. With that cinnamon-cream coat and eyes as green as the envy of all around him, Lyon is nothing short of stunning. But his looks aren’t what make me fall for him instantly. What makes me feel as though I’ve known him all my life. No, that would be his shy and quiet sweetness. The way he peaks out from the corner of his kennel with a wrinkle in his brow and an expression of “…who me?” “Yes you, silly!” I laugh. Because how could there be another? No other turns from shy to sweet slowly but surely like the changing of the seasons. No other studies me for a moment before planting a kiss upon my cheek. A quiet way of saying, “this kiss is for you and you alone.” Lyon is a surrender to us yet much of his past remains a mystery. How funny that an 8 month-old can have mystery. But Lyon does and carries it beautifully. There is a depth behind that calm, quiet demeanor. An aura about him as he sits quietly by your side. Lovable Lyon is an excellent walker, affectionate and bright, has little reaction to passing pups on our walk, and appears to be housebroken. But mostly, he’s a quietly beautiful boy forever wondering “who me?” Choose Lyon today. You’ll be happy you did.
