I am a female black and brown beagle. The shelter thinks I am about 6 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 04/02/2016 from NY 10462, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

04/02/16 16:58 Basic information: Luna is a 6 year old female beagle who was a gift to her previous owners as a puppy. She was surrendered because of medical reasons. She has lumps on her neck and legs. The last time she went to the vet was 3/21. Socialization: Around strangers Luna is relaxed and playful and when she plays with adults she is gentle. Around children 5-8 she is also relaxed and playful and exuberant when she plays. She lived with a Beagle, Boston terrier mix and with him she was also relaxed and playful and when she played she was exuberant. Behavior: Luna has never attempted to bite a person or animal. She isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. If her food bowl is touched with eating she continues to eat with relaxed body. She is friendly if a treat is taken from her. She is playful if a toy is taken from her. She’s taught not to go on furniture. She tolerates baths. She isn’t bothered if her paws are touched or trimmed. She enjoys having her coat brushed. She is friendly if she is held or restrained. If an unfamiliar person approached her previous home or owner she would be would bark but was friendly. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Luna is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, excitable, independent and mellow. She has a medium activity level. The two things her previous owner liked most about her were; she’s mellow and friendly. When her previous owners were home Luna would follow them around. She liked to play with balls, squeaky toys, and stuffed toys and chew toys. She was kept indoors but had free choice with pet door. She ate dry Benefit. She is house trained but has recently been peeing indoors. She is well behaved when left alone indoors. She knows how to come. For exercise she went to play in the yard. On leash she doesn’t pull, off leash she wanders but comes when called. Behavior during intake: Luna allowed me to pet her, collar her and take pictures. She had a relaxed body and wagging tail. She showed no signs of aggression.

Luna came into our center as an owner surrender citing Luna’s medical concerns. Owner reports Luna is relaxed around children ages 5-8, also lived with another beagle and a boston terrier. It is reported Luna is not bothered if anyone touches her Food, Toys, Treats. She is described as friendly, affectionate, independent, and mellow. Luna allowed all handling with a relaxed body during intake. She allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during Look item, soft. Luna stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears and tail neutral. Due to Luna’s medical concerns the Tag portion of the assessment was skipped. She did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze items. Luna showed no interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment or medical condition as owner reports she liked to play with balls, squeaky toys, stuffed toys, and chew toys. Luna slowly approached the helper dog from the side. Behaviorally, Luna was tolerant overall and Average. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2. Dog slowly approaches, turns body to side in relation to other dog
