KNOWN HISTORY: Limited profile 9/27/2013 Previously lived with: Adults, male dog (littermate) Behavior toward dogs: Social with resident dog, bit small dog Bite history: Yes. Yuna and other resident dog (Brett) got loose from their yard, ran up to a man walking a small dog. Small dog was bitten by Yuna and released, but ultimately died from injuries sustained in the attack. 8/25/2015, second stay in the care center Spayed female Previously lived with: Male dog (littermate) Bite history: Yes. Yuna and other resident dog were loose in a park and bit a small dog over multiple areas of it’s body and small dog’s owner on thumb. Owner was treated at the hospital. The severity of the small dog’s injuries is not known. 3/2/1017, third stay in the care center Neutered male, owner surrender (lived in previous home for 4 years, born at home) Previously lived with: Adults, similarly sized dog (littermate), and an infant Behavior toward strangers: Social Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward dogs: Only gets along with resident dog (littermate) Behavior toward cats: Chases cats Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: Yes. In the care center, Yuna has lunged and hard barked at other kenneled dogs. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 3/8/2017 During his initial medical exam, Yuna was relaxed and easy to handle. ENERGY LEVEL:

RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) – Due to Yuna’s bite history, we feel an adult only home would be most beneficial at this time. _X_No cats – Owner reports Yuna chases cats. She must not go to a home with resident cats or where she may come into contact with cats. _X_Single-pet home – Yuna has a multiple bite history. She has attacked at least two and killed at least one small dog. While she and Brett enjoy each other’s presence, they have attacked multiple dogs together and appear to be overly-bonded. They may be better off separated, and should go to single-pet homes that can provide intensive behavior modification and counterconditioning/desensitization to prevent any future injury to other animals or humans. _X_Recommend no dog parks – Due to multiple bite history directed at other dogs, as well as Yuna’s reactivity toward dogs other than her littermate whom she walked passed in the center, we recommend no dog parks _X_Place with a New Hope partner – Due to Yuna’s multiple bite history, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide force free behavior modification. Potential challenges: _X_Multiple-bite history/risk of future aggression – Yuna has a multiple bite history and escalates quickly to snapping and biting, so this is an established behavior. Both bite instances occurred when breaking out of yards, so we recommend a yard with tall, secure fencing and on a leash at all times outside. She should never be left in a yard unattended. Yuna needs careful behavior modification and management to prevent future bites. We recommend only force-free, reward-based training methods for Yuna as more aversive techniques are likely to increase the risk of aggression.
